Île aux Aigrettes is a 26-hectare nature reserve in Mahebourg Bay, about 850 metres off Mauritius’s south-east coast. This small coralline-limestone island protects one of the last remnants of the island’s dry coastal forest.
The standard EcoTour follows a guided trail around sites of interest and lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours. A short boat trip to and from the island is included. The reserve was declared in 1965, and conservation work has helped restore forest and reintroduce rare native species. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
Current rates listed by MWF: public rate — adult MUR 1,000; child aged 4–11 MUR 500; children aged 0–3 free. Mauritian rate — adult MUR 350; child aged 4–11 MUR 175; children aged 0–3 free. Confirm the applicable rate and availability when booking.
