Opera Mauritius presents Rencontre Symphonique at Caudan Arts Centre on Wednesday 28 October. Musicians from Mauritius and Réunion join the Mauritius Police Band, Ensemble 415, Vent d’un Rêve and conservatory performers under conductor Daniel Bargier. The programme moves from Haydn, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns and Grieg to a work by a Mauritian composer, Water Music, the slow movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, and excerpts from My Fair Lady and La Traviata. The performance is in French and English and lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes, including a 15-minute interval.
